Civil society organisations call on the Italian Government to co-host a Heads of State Summit to end the scourge of malnutrition by 2030

Civil society organisations call on the Italian Government to co-host a Heads of State Summit in May 2017 at which world leaders should commit like Olympians to end the scourge of malnutrition by 2030

Please click on the link above to see a reactive statement drafted by civil society participants in the Nutrition for Growth event, held in Rio de Janeiro on 4th August on the eve of the Olympic Games.

The statement calls on the Italian Government to host a Heads of State Commitment Summit on nutrition in Rome on 25th May 2017, in the context of the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition. This would take advantage of the presence of some world leaders at the G7 Summit in the following days. The UN General Assembly in New York in September 2016 would provide the perfect opportunity to announce the date and location of the next N4G Summit.

As of 26th August, 61 organisations / networks had signed on to the statement – see logos at the end of the document. Given that the majority are networks, the actual number of organisations endorsing the statement from around the world is in the hundreds.

The intention is for this statement to be sent to the Italian and other Heads of State in the near future.

If your organisation would like to sign on to the statement please send an email, together with your logo, to the following email address: coordination@csos4nutrition.net
